Police might be a step closer to catching the gunman responsible for the Nipsey Hussle shooting, thanks to the incident being documented by a nearby video surveillance camera.

The video was recorded by a camera from the nearby business, The Marathon Clothing store.

In the video footage, a man in a red shirt is seen entering from the alleyway and then pacing briskly towards the front of the store.

Although the shooting itself is not very clear, the gunshot victim can be seen going down, and several people can be seen running away from the scene. The gunman opened fire three times on Nipsey Hussle.

However, the suspect shot him once, and while walking away, decided to come back and shoot him a second and a third time before kicking him and running off.

It is not clear if the gunman is among the people running away from the scene of the grisly shooting.

what the video footage shows

Still, the footage helps to prove that there were numerous witnesses at the scene when the incident took place.

Also notable is the fact that the person in the red shirt is not running from the lot like everyone else.

The video does not clarify if the person who has collapsed is indeed Nipsey. However, the victim is seen to be wearing a white shirt, which is what Nipsey was wearing moments before the incident took place.

So far, the police describe the suspect as a black man in his 20s. He is also said to have escaped in a vehicle that was driven by a woman.

Nipsey did not survive the shooting, but the other two people who were shot during the incident survived. The rapper was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

It is claimed that the shooting was gang-related.

Before the incident happened, Nipsey had plans to meet with LAPD's police chief and commissioner in order to discuss plans to help prevent gang violence in the area.
